The Global Pest Management Conference (PMC) 2026 has successfully concluded its two-day international gathering held on July 23–24, 2026, at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State, bringing together pest-management professionals, researchers, regulators, policymakers, manufacturers, business leaders and other stakeholders from Nigeria and across the world.
Held under the theme, “Rethinking Pest Control Strategies for Agriculture, Food Safety, Public Health and Environmental Sustainability in Africa,” the conference provided a platform for stakeholders to examine the evolving role of pest management in protecting communities, food systems, agricultural productivity and the environment.
Convened and hosted by PCO Ayodeji D.F. Oluleye, the conference featured high-level keynote presentations, technical masterclasses, panel discussions, exhibitions, technical workshops, business sessions, networking and international knowledge exchange.
The conference brought together experts and stakeholders with representation from countries including Nigeria, the United States, Italy, China and Portugal, reinforcing PMC’s growing position as an international platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration within the African pest-management sector.
A major highlight of the conference was the participation of government and regulatory institutions, reflecting the increasing importance of pest management to public health, agriculture, food safety and national biosecurity.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) delivered a keynote presentation on “Pesticide Regulation and Compliance for Safer Public Health Outcomes in Africa,” highlighting the importance of responsible pesticide use, regulatory compliance and safety.
The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) also addressed participants on “Integrated Quarantine Measures and Pest Risk Management for Sustainable Trade and Food Protection,” drawing attention to the role of pest management in protecting agriculture, food systems and international trade.
The international dimension of GPMC 2026 was strengthened through contributions from leading experts and industry representatives.
Daniel Baldwin of the United States delivered an international keynote titled “Beyond Traditional IPM: A Practical Framework for Sustainable Pest Management,” challenging professionals to rethink conventional approaches and embrace more integrated and sustainable pest-management strategies.
From Italy, Mr. Giovanni Bazzocchi presented “Building the Future of Pest Management Through Science, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships,” highlighting the importance of innovation and international collaboration in developing the sector.
Academic expertise was represented by Prof. Kehinde Kemabonta of the University of Lagos, who spoke on “Advancing Integrated Pest Management Through Research, Innovation and Sustainable Practices for Africa’s Future.”
The conference also featured international industry representation from organisations and professionals connected to Italy, China and Portugal, creating opportunities for technical exchange, commercial engagement and future partnerships.
Day Two of the conference focused strongly on technical education and professional development.
Participants engaged in a technical masterclass led by Elder Michael Somoye, alongside specialised panel sessions covering agriculture, food processing and food safety, as well as public health, vector control and environmental sustainability.
Parallel technical workshops provided participants with opportunities to explore contemporary areas of pest management, while the conference’s business masterclass addressed the commercial and operational realities of running professional pest-management businesses.
One of the notable features of the second day was the use of group technical sessions and group presentations, allowing participants to collaborate, analyse industry challenges and present their ideas in a practical learning environment.

Their contributions reflected the multidisciplinary nature of modern pest management and the need for stronger collaboration between practitioners, researchers, regulators, manufacturers and businesses.
Beyond the technical sessions, GPMC 2026 provided an exhibition and networking platform where participating organisations showcased products, technologies, equipment and professional solutions.
The conference also facilitated B2B meetings, sponsor engagement, exhibitor interactions, media interviews and international networking, creating opportunities for new commercial and strategic relationships.

The discussions throughout GPMC 2026 reinforced a common message: Africa’s pest-management challenges require collaboration across sectors.
From agricultural pests and food contamination to mosquitoes, disease vectors, urban pests and environmental risks, effective pest management requires more than chemical application.
It requires research, innovation, professional competence, responsible pesticide use, regulation, technology, prevention, monitoring and stronger partnerships.
The conference therefore called for greater collaboration between governments, regulatory agencies, universities, professional associations, private companies, manufacturers and international organisations to develop sustainable pest-management solutions that respond to Africa’s unique challenges.
TOWARDS GPMC 2027
The successful conclusion of GPMC 2026 sets the stage for the next edition of the conference.
The Global Pest Management Conference Africa 2027 (PMC Africa 2027) will take place on July 22–23, 2027, at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

Strengthening Integrated Approaches for a Healthier, More Sustainable Africa
Under the positioning “Where Global Partnerships Create Local Solutions,” PMC Africa 2027 will build on the conversations initiated in 2026 and further explore the relationship between pest management, human health, animal health, plant health and environmental sustainability.
